Cat-Proofing your PC
Our furry feline friends love one
thing more than anything else, and that’s to curl up on our keyboards! But, it isn’t
good for us, our computers and it can even sometimes be unsafe for our kitties...
Did you know that almost 98% of
cat owners say that their cat has accidentally deleted something important when
walking across the keyboard?
Here’s how to protect your cat:
-- Tie any loose cords and bundle
them together. Use plastic covers, such as a spiral wire wrap tube.
-- Purchase cat repellent and
spray any exposed wires. Be careful not to spray on any of your PC openings
though.
-- Remove any peripheral devices
and put them away.
-- Avoid using printers with
rollers that are exposed. These could be dangerous and catch your kitty’s tail!
Here’s how to protect your PC:
-- Turn all your equipment off
when you leave the room; this will make sleeping on your keyboard less
inviting.
-- Cat fur can clog up your
computer, so shut your laptop and put it away when you’re not using it.
-- Clean your fan, vents and
filters out regularly.
-- Always close your CD and DVD
drawers
-- Make a point to ALWAYS keep
cats, liquid and your computer apart!
Here’s how to protect your files:
-- Close all your open
applications before you leave your computer unattended.
-- Set your programs to auto-save
while you are busy working.
-- Install a paw recognition
software to keep your cat off your computer – Pawsense is a great software!
-- Make sure you are backing up online or externally. At The Computer Guyz we offer a full
range of back up services, call 087 001 0511/2 or email sales@tcgcape.co.za today!
Only 9% of cat owners are
actually backing up their computers daily, make sure you make a habit of it to
make sure your precious data is safe!
