8 Interesting Things you didn’t know about Hacking

When you think of hacking, the first thing that pops into your mind is probably hooded gentlemen sitting in dark rooms, blocked off from society. However, hacking has become a part of our everyday lives!

      1.       The word “hacker” originally means “one who makes furniture with an axe.”

      2.       Computer hacking began in the late 1950s by members of MIT’s Tech Model Railroad Club.

      3.       Hacking made it to Hollywood in the film WarGames in 1983.

      4.       Soon after six teenagers managed to hack into the Los Alamos National Lab where they develop nuclear weapons.

      5.       In 2001 a British hacker broke into almost 100 U.S. Navy, Army, Pentagon and NASA PCs.

      6.       Your Mac isn’t invincible! At the 2009 CanSecWest conference, a security researcher used Safari to hack into a MacBook in less than 10 seconds.

      7.       It is possible to hack into wireless signals put out by automatic insulin pumps implanted into human bodies.

      8.       Security cameras can be hacked too. In 2016 a botnet of thousands of hacked security cameras knocked several prominent websites offline.
