Why does restarting your PC always seem to fix your Problems?
So, you call in for tech support and before
you can even explain your problem you’re asked “Did you switch it on and off?”
We’re all used to hearing it now, and it
may make your eyes roll every time, BUT before
you take offense to this simple advice, stop and actually do it and you’ll be
surprised how many times it actually works!
More than half of the problems customers
phone in for can be easily fixed by switching their devices on and off.
Most people may be wondering – why does
this simple action work so well?
When your computer is on you are busy
running programs, then closing them, maybe you install a game and uninstall an
application, sometimes you’re Googling things for hours at a time. A lot of other
activities are happening in the background that you don’t even know about!
All of these things are happening when you’re
using your computer and it can get a bit crazy – especially if you’re using
your computer over a few days without switching it off.
You may not know this, but everything you
do leave behind a “footprint” and these “footprints” tend to use up a lot of
your system resources such as your RAM.
If too many “footprints” are left behind
your computer can start to experience problems, like a slow system, programs
that won’t open and even error messages.
When you switch your computer off every
program, game, app, process, etc. ends completely and when you start your
computer up again you have a clean slate and a faster, better computer!
Here’s how to restart your computer
properly, depending on what Windows OS you have…
