Record old school videos with the VHS Camcorder app

Throwback Thursdays are about to get a lot more serious with the new app called VHS Camcorder. This cool new app recreates the look and feel of shooting a video with an old school camera perfectly!

The iPhone app was created by Rarevision, a software company that says the VHS Camcorder app was specifically designed to look and sound like a videotape recording that has been in storage for 30 years.

While it may sound like a cheap gimmick, the company has actually put a lot of effort and thought into the app. To start, the app not only degrades the video quality, but also the quality of the audio. There’ll be a good amount of static and hiss in the background of each video.

There is also a hilarious feature called “tilting device makes things worse”, so the more you move your device while recording, the worse the video gets! Even better, there’s the option to drag your finger around the frame while recording to achieve a similar grainy effect.

Of course, VHS Camcorder wouldn’t be legit if it didn’t have a true camcorder-style obnoxious date stamp. The app even adds the extra touch of being able to change the dates that appear, so you can go further and pretend your old school video is from the 80s.

All the videos that you shoot in the VHS Camcorder app can be shared on your social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook.

Despite the quality being extremely bad on purpose, VHS Camcorder has managed to get a 5-star rating from users for its retro take on video. Let’s be honest, simply the idea of this app is great, what could be better than pretending your shaky iPhone is from the 90s.
