Your Touchscreen is Disgusting – here’s how to keep it clean!
When you neglect to keep your smart phone
clean, it can turn into something really nasty! Touch screens, specifically
those on smart phones are proven to carry a large amount of bacteria, germs and
even faeces!
If there’s one new habit you should start
doing, it’s keeping your screens shiny and clean – here are a few tips and
tricks:
1. Clean your screen. Cleaning your
smartphone is basically the same as cleaning any LCD monitor – do not use any
harsh chemicals or water. Rather opt to use a spray cleaner and a microfiber
cloth.
2. DIY disinfectant. If you don’t want to
pay for a special cleaning formula, make one yourself with a 50/50 mixture of isopropyl
alcohol and distilled water – only use this solution on the solid parts of your
phone.
3. Use Scotch tape. If you don’t have much
time, but you really need to clean your phone use a piece of Scotch tape to
peel away any dirt or dust that is stuck in your phone’s crevices or to get rid
of fingerprints.
4. Get an antimicrobial phone case. A regular
phone case will protect your phone, but it will not protect you from bacteria
and germs – an antimicrobial case as properties that can kill bacteria, fungus
and mould.
5. Protect your screen. You put your dirty
fingers all over your phone the entire day, so putting an antimicrobial screen
protector on your phone’s screen will break down bacteria and germs and protect
your screen at the same time!
6. Practice proper phone etiquette. Just
like you don’t speak with your mouth full or put your elbows on the dinner
table, putting your cell phone on the table is considered rude! Plus your hands
come into contact with your mouth and lots of germs as you eat.
7. Stop with the potty mouth. Using your
phone on the toilet not only puts your phone at risk of drowning in the bowl,
but it also exposes your hands to germs and even faeces! Leave the phone
outside and grab a magazine to read instead.
8. Wash your hands. Your hands carry so
many germs, so keep them clean by washing with soap and water. Always remember that
a good wash takes 15 to 20 seconds!
9. Be prepared on the go. Everyone should
have a hand sanitizer at their desk as well as in their bag. Keep
electronic-safe wipes with you at all times so you can clean your screen while
you’re rushing around town.
