7 Signs that you’re too dependent on Technology
We are living in the age of technology, which means that tech will
obviously be a part of our everyday lives. Complex devices and cool gadgets
have improved our lives and made our lives easier, but how many of you have
stopped and looked at the negative effect tech can have on us?
Here are 7 signs that you’re too dependent on technology and you
may need to take a break:
Wasting hours
Technology is difficult to escape; it is everywhere – in schools, at work and even when we play. Every year the normal tech usage levels get higher and higher, in 2016 there were 3.419 billion internet users worldwide. If you are wasting hours each day online, playing games or on the computer you should be concerned.
Phantom ringing
Do you sometimes hear your phone ringing or vibrating even when it
isn’t? This comes from compulsively checking your phone for messages or social
media updates, why not try leaving your phone on silent for a while or turn it
off!
Cravings
If the power goes out and your phone battery dies, do you feel
worried or isolated from the world? Well, this is a definite sign that your
cravings for technology are out of control! Set aside some time each day to do
other activities besides technology, like outside hobbies and setting life
goals.
Missing out on the real world
Don’t miss out on the real world by
choosing a TV series, computer game or Facebook over going to visit your
friends or family. Always remember that technology and all your favourite TV
shows will be there forever, but your loved ones may not.
Multitasking
Anxiety and depression is actually
linked to doing a million things at once, such as watching a movie while
surfing the web or checking your social media networks while taking a Snapchat
video and listening to music. Try to just focus on one thing at a time.
