Recently many of our clients have been experiencing a phishing attempt which looks like Ransomware. They receive an email that has their password in it and the cybercriminal will demand payment in exchange for sensitive information (see the email below).

I am aware password12345 is your password. Lets get straight to the point. You do
not know me and you are probably thinking why you're getting this e-mail?
Not one person has compensated me to check you.

In fact, I actually installed a software on the 18+ streaming (adult porn)
web-site and do you know what, you visited this site to have fun (you know
what I mean). When you were watching videos, your browser started operating
as a RDP having a key logger which provided me access to your display as
well as webcam. after that, my software collected your entire contacts from
your Messenger, social networks, and e-mail . After that I created a video.
1st part shows the video you were watching (you've got a nice taste lol . .
.), and second part shows the recording of your webcam, and its you.

You actually have not one but two solutions. Why dont we read up on these
choices in particulars:

First choice is to neglect this email message. In this scenario, I most
certainly will send out your videotape to each one of your personal contacts
and thus think about about the humiliation you experience. In addition in
case you are in an affair, precisely how it will eventually affect?

Number 2 option should be to pay me $3000. Let us refer to it as a donation.
Consequently, I will immediately delete your video footage. You will
continue on your way of life like this never occurred and you will never
hear back again from me.

You will make the payment by Bitcoin (if you do not know this, search for
"how to buy bitcoin" in Google search engine).

BTC Address to send to: 1CNthPsvULuuyvP8k9tMTMcLx1AFMYbpbW
[case sensitive, copy & paste it]

If you are making plans for going to the authorities, good, this email
cannot be traced back to me. I have dealt with my steps. I am also not
looking to ask you for a lot, I simply want to be paid. You now have one day
to make the payment. I have a unique pixel in this email message, and at
this moment I know that you have read through this email message. If I do
not get the BitCoins, I will definately send your video recording to all of
your contacts including relatives, colleagues, and so forth. Nevertheless,
if I do get paid, I will destroy the recording right away. If you want to
have proof, reply Yea then I will certainly send your video recording to
your 7 friends. It's a non-negotiable offer, and thus please do not waste my
personal time & yours by responding to this email message.=

If you receive an email like this, change your standard password and delete the spam email immediately! It is normally a password you’ve used on one or other site that has been hacked and it works on the assumption that 80% of people use the same password for everything. If you reply or interact, this will confirm it and if you pay, there is nothing to get back. So please do not pay it.

If you’re stuck on “I have so many passwords to change” – At TCG, we use Dashlane, which is a secure password manager. It has some great features and you can get a free trial.
