The new gadget for all the social media addicts

Are you a social media addict that absolutely has to use hashtags for everything? Whether it be to communicate news, a status update or you just think its necessary to hashtag all your words when you post a picture on Twitter. This cool new USB hashtag keyboard called HashKey will be the perfect addition to your keyboard, but only if hashtags are really that important to you!

So hunting around on your keyboard for the hashtag key can be a real bother these days especially when you’re tweeting away, and if you’re new to the whole idea then you’re probably not sure how to find it in the first place!  

Never fear, because it looks like help is at hand, a new project on Kickstarter is hard at work at putting the extremely important (mainly to the social media lovers) hashtag on a single-button USB keyboard that simply plugs into your computer and then you’re good to go.

Is the HashKey overkill, or is it actually useful? Well, in my opinion it’s more of a novelty gift than useful, is it really that difficult to press two buttons together – “Shift” and “3”? But for social media nerds all over the world the HashKey could quite possibly be the perfect computer gift.

The HashKey is solely made to save the social media addicts all over the internet valuable seconds and celebrate the mighty hashtag’s contribution to digital communication! Here’s what the inventor, Shed Simove had to say: “We're trying to raise enough funds to get HashKey into production and bring it to early-adopter social media addicts around the world, with a view to producing it in greater quantities and taking to retail if it proves a success. We'd love to be able to offer bespoke versions in different colours and other variations!”

It’s ideal for you if you feel the hashtag deserves its own dedicated key on your keyboard and you won’t ever have to moan that you don’t know how to type one ever again - some people will always be puzzled about what some keys do on their own keyboard.

The HashKey project is looking for funds at the moment and it can be yours next March for a very low price; unfortunately unlike the slick aluminium version that the makers crafted the final product will be made from plastic. Still, it’s great for saving you crucial seconds when you’re tweeting at the speed of light.
