6 Signs you’re an Arrogant Tech Phony

The tech world moves fast. Really fast. Yesterday's hot new hype is today's utter obnoxiousness.

There are no tech etiquette rules written in stone, but if you are any bit of a sane human being, you'll pick up on them.

Below are six things you should never do if you want to avoid becoming the arrogant neighbourhood #techphony

1. You never get off your hoverboard

Hoverboards are over. And I will remind everyone that they don’t even hover. They were goofy from the beginning and then when they started catching fire and exploding they became a hazard to society. Don’t be that person still riding one today.

2. You wear more than one wearable

Wearables, fitness trackers and smartwatches are the next big thing, but nobody should be wearing more than one at a time – NOBODY. What are you even doing with all that data anyway? Will it help you become superhuman? One is enough!

3. You use an iPad Pro to take pictures

The best camera is the one you have on you. That camera is usually your phone. And while it is convenient to have a camera on your tablet, you should definitely make an effort not to use it in public to take pictures, unless you want to look like a complete idiot.

4. You’re still using Google Glass

Sorry Google Glass fans, but these specs are so over. It was pretty dorky when it launched and it’s dorkier if you’re still wearing them. Until someone makes a computer on your face look cooler, people will try to punch those Google Glasses right off head.

5. You use a GoPro to film everyday things in your life

GoPros were made to film extreme sports, like skiing down a giant icy slope or parachuting out of an airplane. Some people, however, are now using them to film everything. And we mean EVERYTHING. Walking to the kitchen and making a sandwich is not an extreme sport.

6. You have your phone on blast in public

When you’re in a public place, try to respect the people around you. Otherwise, you might as well be a caveman. Don’t be the guy playing games on his phone with the volume cranked to 10. Have some respect for yourself and others.
