How to keep your Devices Safe when you Travel
When you’ve worked hard and you feel like
you need a break, it’s nice to stop and put your feet up by the pool. However
before you start to relax or plan a trip somewhere, you need to know how to
keep your devices safe and secure.
Update
your devices – Making sure your security measures
and operating system is up to date is an important line of defence for your
smartphone or PC.
Use
auto lock and password protection – Now is the time
to ensure that if you ever leave your smartphone or laptop unattended a
criminal will have a hard time accessing your data.
Turn
off Bluetooth – If your Bluetooth is switched on
while you’re in a public place anyone sitting nearby can pick up your signal
and connect to your phone.
Only
use a secure Wi-Fi connection – Stick to a password
protected network when you’re using the Wi-Fi and you’ll avoid hackers gaining
access to your device.
Lock
your devices away – Many hotel rooms have safes
available where you can store your devices that you don’t need for the day such
as your laptop, smartphone, hard drive, etc.
Avoid
broadcasting everything on social media – It may be
exciting to share all your beautiful holiday photos with your friends on
Facebook, but criminals also go online and they’ll take advantage of the fact
that you’re not home!
No matter where you might be travelling to,
or if you’re just taking a quick weekend break make sure you keep your devices
safe and secure and you’ll enjoy your break with complete peace of mind.
