Almost 100% of people who use their computers and cell phones on a daily basis experience a problem called CVS (Computer Vision Syndrome). Some of the symptoms include blurry vision, burning or stinging eyes, sensitivity to light, neck and back pain and headaches.

Have you noticed any of these symptoms? If so, use these tips to ease the strain and avoid damaging your eyes…

Readjust the angle

The middle of your screen should be at least 50cm to 70cm away from your eyes and 10cm to 12cm below your eye level.

Reduce any glare

The letters on your screen are not as clear as letters on paper, so position your screen to avoid any glare from windows or lights.

Rest your eyes

Always take breaks on a regular basis when you are using your device for a long period of time. Every 20 minutes look away and focus on a distant object; this will give your eyes time to focus again.

Remember to blink

It is normal to blink at least 18 times per minute, but if you are using your phone or computer on a regular basis then you only blink half as often. So remind yourself to blink and refresh your eyes with eye drops if you develop dry eye.

Check your eyes!

Vision problems that are not sorted out can make your eye problems a whole lot worse and cause farsightedness and astigmatism, so get your eyes checked – it is a necessity that comes with age.

Even if you don’t need to wear glasses all the time, you may need to when you use your computer or cell phone – Don’t continue to strain your eyes!
