7 Ways to Reduce your Screen Time

Have you been thinking of doing a digital detox? It may seem impossible, but it’s actually not a bad idea to take a break from all the negative effects too much screen time can cause.

If you’re interested in a less screen-filled lifestyle then here are a few small changes you need to make…

* Delete your social media apps

Popular social media networks like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram can really suck you in and make it impossible to concentrate on anything else. Delete the apps on your phone and rather stick to using them on your laptop or desktop computer.

* Do some exercise

These days people use YouTube as well as workout apps to keep themselves fit. Instead of this rather head out to the gym, take a jog or go for a hike with a friend – it’s more of an effort but your mind and body will thank you in the future.

* Have a real meeting

Almost every office around the world uses messenger apps, like Skype, to communicate with clients or other employees, etc. Get off the apps and have an actual real face-to-face meeting to lower your screen time and improve overall communication in the workplace.

* Go to the library

You don’t have to spend money buying books or reading on a tablet, instead go to the local library and get a library card and read a good old-fashioned book! It’s a lot cheaper and you won’t have to spend your time staring at a tablet screen.

* Call, don’t text

We’re all addicted to texting, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, etc. So instead of setting this as your default way to communicate why don’t you make a phone call and have an actual conversation with your loved one. Even better than calling is speaking to them in person!

* Cancel your data plan

If you’d really like to make a big change then get rid of your data plan. You can still use your favourite apps when you’re connected to Wi-Fi, but other than that you won’t be tempted to check your phone all the time.

* Leave your phone at home

When you’re going to meet your friends or family for a fun day out, stop and think – do you REALLY need your phone? If not, just leave it at home! Enjoy your time with your loved ones without the distraction of checking your phone all the time.

Too much screen time isn’t good for you – do yourself a favour and take a break!
