A Flip Phone in 2015?
What the flip? LG has
just launched a flip phone like they think it’s still the year 2005! The phone
is called the Wine Smart and it runs Android. Confused? Well, you should be.
Despite the fact that
it looks super retro, or like the first phone you ever used, its operating
system is up to date. It runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, which is actually the
latest version available. It also packs a microSD card slot, which is actually
missing from the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge.
However, the rest of
the features are less likely to make you flip. The screen is tiny and measures
about 3.2 inches across with a resolution of just 480x320 pixels.
Inside the phone is
1GB of RAM and a 1.1GHz quad-core chip. And guess what, it only comes with 4GB
of memory. Looks like they put that microSD card slot there for a reason.
The rear camera is
just 3 megapixels, and the front shooter is VGA. The phone is also quite thick,
at 16.6mm thick – seems like someone needs to go on a diet!
The Wine Smart phone
was previously only available in Korea under the name LG Gentle, but it is
going to be available in the UK soon. If you’re looking to buy this retro
phone, expect it to be cheap. It is, after all, a budget handset that will
probably take you back in time.
