Amazing Vintage Computer Collections
Some of us are different,
instead of throwing our old machines away, we choose to keep them and look
after them. These people are called vintage computer enthusiasts and together
they preserve the history of computers.
Take a look at these
amazing collections of vintage computers…
Blake Patterson likes
to call his collection, his Byte Cellar. He has packed over 96 computers and
game consoles into a space decked out with all kinds of retro accents. Blake’s cellar
full of vintage computers could very well be called a work of genius.
Alex started his collection
about seven years ago, when he was only 11! He has a massive Apple-themed
collection and the most striking thing about it is the presentation, is the way
it is presented in such a clean and refreshing way.
Tom Copper’s
collection, which he keeps in a shed, was one of the first vintage collections
ever showcased online. Tom has been collecting since 1986 and has hundreds of
machines, and the collection is still siting unassumingly in a quiet shed.
Trevor Dickinson has
been a fan of Commodore since he purchased his first machine in 1981. Today, he
has a collection of over 150 Commodore machines. Recently Trevor turned his
love of the Amiga series into a business that specializes in service and
support for diehard Amiga users.
Davide Gustin has a
private collection of retro computers, and he is a member of the Amiga demoscene. He has put together an interactive panoramic tour of his collection
that makes you feel as if you’re examining the machines in person.
Most collections are
impressive with their size and diversity, but a vintage computer collection can
be just as impressive for what it doesn’t have. Bobby White assembled an
accurate Atari 800 that includes an authentic computer desk and most of its
original accessories.
Swiss Apple Powerbook
Collection
Daniel Imhof has been
repairing and collecting Apple laptops for the past 25 years. He has now 292
working models at his home. His favourite machines are from the business-class
PowerBook line Apple made from 1991 to 2006.
Do you have any
vintage computers or gadgets lurking in your closet, attic, garage or basement?
Who knows what kind of computer-treasures you may find!
