8 things you didn’t know you wanted to know about the Apple Watch

The Apple’s big Spring Forward event is now over, so let’s recap on what we already knew and what we learnt about the amazing Apple Watch.

It has a fancy Force Touch display protected by a layer of sapphire glass. It’s packed with sensors and a vibration motor, plus Siri is ready and waiting to take commands and answer your questions. According to Apple it’s everything a watch should be!

This is no ordinary stainless steel
Yes; you might think it’s the same stainless steel as the fork you used to eat your dinner last night, but it not. This is COLD FORGED stainless steel and apparently its 80% harder than, lame non-Apple stainless steel.

The space black watch is indestructible
Okay, so it’s not really indestructible, but it is protected by an ultra-durable coating. It is said that the space black watch is clad in a special “diamond-like” layer of carbon, but then again technically all carbon is diamond-like in a way.

It’s more expensive than any other smartwatch
The Apple Watch Sport which is at the bottom-end of the Apple Watches will be selling for about R4300; all other models which are equally cool, like the slick Pebble Time are cheaper at starting prices of about R3700. If you opt for one of the higher-end Watches, the gap widens even more. Mid-range Apple Watch pricing starts at about R6700 and tops out at a whopping R12800! So if you happen to have an endless supply of money just falling out of your pockets then here’s another Watch for you.

There’s a 10,000 Dollar price tag for the Apple Watch Edition
If you are foolish enough to want to spend 10,000 Dollars on the very limited run of the top-tier Apple Watch, then get in line early because they are only available at select Apple Stores. Here are some other things you can buy for a whole 10,000… 20 iPads or four 15-inch MacBook Pros.

The charging cable costs R355
The Apple Watches charging cable magically sticks to the back of the watch and guess what it costs a whole extra R355 if you want a second one. An extra metre of cord will cost you about another R122 into the price.

It will nag you
Sitting is the new cancer apparently, and your Apple Watch isn't going to sit by and watch you slowly rot away. It’ll give you some gentle encouragement, like a caring friend, not like some nagging ex. Well, at least that’s what Tim Cook said!

There are a lot of apps for it
It is an Apple product after all, so did you really expect that there would be a shortage of apps? No, of course you didn't! At the Apple event, everything was showed off, from its own built-in apps to Instagram and Facebook. More apps will definitely be coming once people start doling out the money for Apple Watches.

It works with Apple Pay
That huge amount you paid for Apple Watch won’t be the last money your Apple Watch liberates from your bank account. Of course, Apple made it work with Apple Pay; there’s no reason to make you pull your iPhone out of your pocket when you've already got it paired with the watch on your wrist.

Apple Stores will have a full range of Watches on display, and they’ll even let you try one on! Well, probably not the Edition… they can’t allow you to just try on their 10,000 Dollar crown jewel!
