The new ultra-thin Apple MacBook
Apple isn't just all
about showing off their fancy new Smartwatch, they also unveiled their brand
new MacBook that has practically no bezel at all and it even comes in gold! It’s
the lightest MacBook to date, and it’s even thinner than the smallest MacBook
air, cool right?
The new MacBook weighs
just less than 1kg, and it measures 13.1mm at its thickest point. So, its 24%
thinner than the MacBook Air, and even with its ultra-thin and tiny design, there’s
still a full size keyboard that’s been re-designed. To top things off, it has a
single port for basically everything – the USB-C connector can supply power,
connect to USB devices as well as extend to a separate display! Plus it still
has a headphone jack too.
The 12-inch screen
sports a Retina display with 2304 x 1440 pixels, and it’s the thinnest display
that Apple has crafted. With plenty of pixels and energy efficient tech packed
in, it’s the Apple’s best screen so far!
The trackpad has also
been given a full make-over; it’s now called the Force Touch trackpad and packs
in sensors to measure the feedback of your presses.
The new re-designed
keyboard is full-sized, only 40% thinner, with 17% wider keys that don’t flex
or give when tapped on the sides or corners. The typing experience takes some
getting used to at first, it feels flatter and less tactile, but the wider keys
mean your fingers are just as likely to find the right key.
When you first catch a
glimpse of the new MacBook, which comes in gold and space grey as well as the
traditional MacBook silver, it’s simply stunning! Yes, the MacBook Air was
great in the looks department, but the 2015 MacBook is just so much better.
So, Apple finally
brought the Retina Display to the MacBook and it isn't a surprise. And on first
impressions, the MacBook makes a pretty strong argument that it was worth the
wait.
