Here’s how your dog can become a social media expert
Have you always wanted
your pooch to join the social media madness with you? But the only problem
standing in the way of that is that dogs don’t know how to use a smartphone,
computer or laptop!
Well, your best friend no longer needs your help to
establish their social media mark – welcome the Posting Tail.
The Posting Tail is a
camera-equipped vest that you can put on your dog that will sense when it is
happy based on the speed of its tail wag and then snap a picture and post it on
Facebook! The camera sits on your dog’s back and allows you to see exactly what
it sees when something makes your dog happy.
Developed by Pedigree
and the ad agency Saatchi & Saatchi Madrid, the vest uses a Raspberry Pi
computer board hooked to a sensor on the dog’s tail. The board even knows how
to tell the difference between a normal wag and a happy wag; however, not all
dogs want a sensor band wrapped around their tail.
The Posting Tail is
Wi-Fi enabled and connects via 3G broadband, allowing your dog to post a
sort-of selfie from almost anywhere. It can also use GPS data and pin a spot on
a map to show where the picture was taken and give you an idea of where your dog’s
favourite spots are.
There are quite a few
dog harnesses designed to put cameras on dogs’ backs, but automatically posting
your dog’s pictures to social media is a unique, novel feature.
