Beware of Spam Email!

Every now and then a spam message will manage to slip into your inbox. But how do you know when you're looking at a scam or not?

Most of the time these emails pretend to come from banks, credit card companies, online shops and auction sites as well as other trusted organisations. Take a look below at the spam email one of our employees recently received, convincing, right?

They usually try to trick you into going to the site, or giving out your personal details.

Look out for these warning signs:

-- The sender’s email address may be different from the trusted organisation’s website address.

-- The email may be sent from a completely different address or the address looks suspicious.

-- The email may not use your proper name, but a non-specific greeting such as “Dear customer” or “Attention”.

-- A sense of urgency; for example the threat that unless you act immediately your account may be closed.

-- A prominent website link. These can be forged or seem very similar to the proper address, but even a single character’s difference means a different website.

-- A request for personal information such as your full name, username, password, cell phone number or bank details.

-- You weren't expecting to get an email from the organisation that appears to have sent it.

Never ever open an email or any attachments if you think it is spam. If in doubt, simply contact the person or organisation the email claims to be sent from – Better safe than sorry!

If you suspect you’ve received a spam email – Do not hesitate to contact us immediately.
