Have you been Hacked? The Top 9 Important Signs to look out for!
Most of the time when you’ve been hacked
you don’t even realise you’re a victim. Hackers are sneaky and they’ll do their
dirty work without you knowing, but there are a few important signs you can
look out for…
Please Note: If you have noticed any of
these signs, do not touch ANYTHING on your PC; simply contact us at The Computer Guyz (021 110 0422) or
email contact@tcgcape.co.za so we
can take quick action!
> You get a notification about someone
trying to reset your password or login to your account. If you did not try to
login or make these changes then this could be a sign that a hacker is at work.
> Strange email messages. People start
pointing out that you’ve been sending them weird emails, when you check your
sent folder there are emails that you didn’t even write.
> Random programs just appear on your
computer. Go to your Control Panel – Programs and Features and see what you
have installed. If you notice some random programs that you didn’t install then
this could be a sign that you’ve been hacked.
> Your password isn’t working. You enter
your password that you know is right and suddenly it doesn’t work? This is
possibly a sign that a hacker has gained access to your account and tampered
with your login details.
> Weird internet activity. Hackers
usually take control of your computer and use it as if they are sitting right
in front of it. Should you notice any strange internet activity, then you could
be the victim of a hacker.
> You cannot update your system. Hackers
have the ability to put malware on your computer and this can prevent you from
updating and downloading protection such as your antivirus software.
> Your computer is super slow. This is one
of the most obvious ways to know if someone has hacked your computer, so be
alert if your PC suddenly slows down.
> Unusual disk activity. Have you
noticed that your hard drive has been working especially hard lately? This is either
your antivirus software doing scans or a hacker at work!
> Surprises onscreen. If you notice unusual
toolbars appearing or annoying pop-ups and other strange onscreen surprises
then it is likely that you’re the victim of a hacker.
It is so vital that you know what to look
out for; this way you can contact the professionals immediately before it’s too
late!
