5 of the worst wearable tech ever created
A wig that buzzes your head with notifications? A Bluetooth dress
that lights up every time you get a phone call? A bra that tells you when you’re
overeating? Who in their right mind would think to create these horrible tech
concepts, even worse who would want to wear them! So get ready for some of the
weirdest tech ever created:
The SmartWig
Yes, basically, it’s a computer in a toupee. The ridiculous SmartWig is a wearable computing device wired into a hairpiece and guess what; the wig could be made from horse hair, human hair, wool, feathers or yak hair (I’m sure everyone will love that one). Nestled deep within the feathers is a high tech circuit board that connects to your phone along with a series of actuators. The actuators allow the wig to stimulate your brain cave whenever you get a random SMS from your long lost cousin and even better you can deploy a super cool hidden laser point for PowerPoint presentations! Just in case you want to point out to everyone how silly you look with that thing on your head.

The DrumPants
We've all tapped out some drum rhythms on our legs, haven’t we? Well let’s just pretend we have for a second. The DrumPants, which were actually funded on Kickstarter and are now on sale (Oh wow, the excitement!), are just the thing for you! These ridiculous pants allow you to make drum sounds by slapping your thighs, using Velcro-attached sensors and a special companion app, better yet you can even program them to do things like program presentations, silence your phone and stun just about everyone with your lack of shame.

The SmartBra
Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse. Wouldn't it be great if you told your wife or girlfriend to wear a bra covered in electrical wires, so she could be alerted when she’s emotionally overeating? That’s definitely one of the best ways to get slapped in the face. But believe it or not, it is real, the sensors in the bra supposedly detect the wearer’s emotions and then assess if she eats more when she’s stressed. Amazing or creepy, I’m not quite sure.

The Selfie Hat
In one simple photo you will see what’s wrong with the world these days. The Selfie Hat – a completely ridiculous hat created by Acer as an item for London Fashion Week (thank goodness it’s a limited edition). How does the horrible Selfie Hat work you may ask? Well you just slip your tablet into the slot on the hat and it can rotate a full 360° so you can take millions of duck face photos from every possible angle!

The Bluetooth Dress
Do you know what looks absolutely fabulous with a bright pink selfie hat? A dress that lights up and flashes every time you get a phone call! It’s a ridiculous idea, but Sony made this prototype dress anyway; the dress is designed to wirelessly connect to a phone via Bluetooth, when the wearer gets a call the white scales decorating the dress move and light up. You won’t need a fashion expect to tell you how wacky you looking wearing this piece.

Yes, wearable tech is all the rage these days, every odd
idea can’t be a winner though. For every great, life-enhancing gadget that makes
it big, there is an epic fail that should never see the light of day!
