Mouse Box: A mini PC inside of a mouse
Imagine an entire working computer small enough to fit
inside a mouse? Well, the Mouse Box could be just what you’re looking for!
Sure, computers are getting smaller but what if you could remove your computer completely
and just use a mouse and a screen?
The Mouse Box is the same size as a normal computer mouse,
but it has all the insides of a computer. It is powered by 1.4GHz quad-core ARM
Cortex processor and includes 123GB of internal flash storage, together with
wireless connectivity. The tiny PC is also equipped with a gyroscope,
accelerometer and two USB 3.0 ports. The creators explain more about its
amazing design:
“At the beginning
moving computers was a real challenge. The problem was not just their quite big
weight, but also their size which made it difficult to put them in a right
place even though it was possible to lift them. Computer portability has been
improving along with developing a PC.”
The Mouse Box also has a rechargeable battery and charges
wirelessly via an inductive charging pad. The charging pad can also come in
handy as it can be folded and turned into a nifty little storage box for the mouse.
So how does it work? There are two USB ports on the front
for hooking up your screen, if you’re at work you’ll be able to switch between
work and home systems at a click. Whatever screen you plug the Mouse Box into
will instantly become your computer!
This handy little computer trapped inside a mouse’s body
actually has huge potential for monkeying around at work, you’ll be able to
play a game or work on your own project, then switch easily over to your
business computer as soon as your boss comes around. Not that I would want to encourage
that sort of behaviour!
The Mouse Box is still in the early stages of development
and its creators are simply asking for people to share their video. It’s not
clear whether this project will move to a crowd-funding site or will be
privately funded, so a release date has not yet been announced, and neither has
pricing. With a good idea like this though, it won’t be long until it becomes
available.
