The TextBlade keyboard will redefine the way you type on your mobile phone
It’s true; no one really likes typing on a smartphone, but
who wants to carry around a huge full size keyboard accessory around with them?
Yes, you want to get your work done faster and a keyboard would help with that
a lot – it’s just such a mission! TextBlade could be the solution…
On Tuesday WayTools debuted the TextBlade, a compact,
unique, tiny keyboard that is collapsible and basically the size of a pack of
gum, but the creators’ claim it can be used for natural two-handed typing. The
TextBlade doesn't use the normal keyboard layout; it uses “next gen key switch
technology” so it allows you to type using just eight big smart keys that
portray the whole alphabet!
So how exactly does the TextBlade work? It is a wireless Bluetooth
device that splits into two main pieces; each piece has four main buttons plus
one extra piece in the middle for the space bar. Each of the four main buttons
has multiple letters on it and it can detect where your finger falls on the
button to predict which letter you want to type.
Brilliant, isn't it? The TextBlade also allows you to type
at speeds of 100 words per minute plus it doesn't add any bulk at all! The accessory
is really tiny, it is one third of the size and weight of an iPhone, not only
that but it is magnetic too so it snaps back together when you’re done typing
and also comes with a stand.
WayTools main goal for the product was to make it as easy as
carrying a pen, and I think they achieved that goal completely! They recently
said this about the TextBlade: “TextBlade is brimming with advanced technology,
including the World's first physical MultiTouch Keys, ultra low energy
Bluetooth Smart, and the first MultiLayer Keys, bringing symbols and editing to
home row ... all engineered into the most compact touch-type machine ever
produced.” Just imagine you’re at work and you need to quickly type out an
important email, just take out your convenient, little keyboard, snap it into
place and start typing – simple as that.
Can this cool, little keyboard and its new way of typing
really be better than just using your thumbs? It is definitely possible if you
take the time to learn! If you want a TextBlade for yourself it can be
pre-ordered from the WayTools website, and you’ll receive your nifty, little gadget in
February.
