Windows 10 Features – Spartan Browser
Meet Spartan, something that a lot of us have been waiting
for, a new browser that will replace Internet Explorer. Now that the often
disliked Internet Explorer is on its way out the door, we can welcome this cool
new browser.
The Spartan browser will look and feel more like Chrome and
Firefox, but it will support extensions. The new browser will be available on
both desktop and mobile devices in Windows 10. The main purpose of Spartan is
as a lightweight alternative to Internet Explorer and as a sort of “do-over”,
so that Internet Explorer can be nothing but a horrible memory.
The Spartan Browser has a variety of different modes; one of
the coolest ones is the note-taking mode, which is exactly what you think. You can
actually draw directly on the webpage! It lets you capture the images and join up
with others by adding comments and notations.
The next mode is specifically for those of you who are
readers. We all know with our busy schedules and hectic lifestyle, we can only
get around to picking up a book every now and then. We hear of a good book and
write down the name only to lose the paper or forget we had it in the first
place, so downloading apps that you can use to create a reading list that’s quick, easy and
efficient is every book lovers dream. Instead of having to download a lot of
apps to do this one function, Spartan has a reading list built right into the
browser that will sync across phones and tablets.
This is not the only built in feature, the much talked about
Cortana will also be a part of the Spartan browser. When you are searching for
something in the address bar Cortana will conveniently pop in and fill in the
information it thinks you may be looking for. If you are going out to dinner or
a movie, and you are looking for information about the specific restaurant or
movie theatre, Cortana will pop in a side window and provide you with all the
information you need.
Despite how much you despise Internet Explorer, it is still
the most popular browser in the world, 58% of people used it throughout all of
2014, but Google Chrome is steadily climbing. Rebranding the official Windows
browser would make a lot of sense, so hopefully the new Spartan Browser will
get rid of Internet Explorer once and for all.
