New, Google Glass will be back soon!
It looks like a new,
ultra-fashionable Google Glass is coming back, and Google has a new partner
working on the much-hated tech specs.
So, reports that
Google Glass is completely dead were obviously exaggerated. Apparently, not
one, but two new versions are on their way and they should be a lot more
stylish than the original. Well, that’s according to the CEO of the luxury
company Luxottica, Massimo Vian.
Luxottica is the
eyewear company behind several stylish glasses brands, like Ray-Ban, Oakley, Tiffany & Co and Vogue Eyewear. They were teamed with Google to produce a series of
frames for the tech giant’s smart glasses in an attempt to give them a much
needed stylish design.
In an interview the
CEO of the Italian eyewear revealed that his company is working with Google on
a new version of Google Glass. Vian then said that the seconds attempt at
Google Glass should be out soon!
Earlier this year,
Google Glass came to a standstill after a lot of bad press surrounding both the
look of the device and its recording capabilities. It was then that Google
suddenly ended its Glass Explorer program and moved the project to a standalone
unit headed by Tony Fadell.
But for most people,
the major turn-off was the look of Google Glass. Using Glass was also a bit of
a hassle too; it had a short battery life and mostly served as a means to get
app notifications. Many people who wore the Glass eyewear in public while carrying
out conversations with others were considered very rude.
There were also
several security and personal space issues that came up due to the fact that
Glass featured a camera that allowed wearers to take photos or videos of people
without them knowing. Businesses ranging from movie theaters to bars began to
ban Google Glass, some states even made I illegal to wear the headgear while
driving as it could become distracting to the driver.
Luckily for us the
next generation of Google Glass will have an improved battery life, a better
display and higher quality sound. They’ll also look a whole lot better. Unfortunately
there’s no word yet on when we’ll see these fashionable tech specs, so keep
your eyes peeled!
