Facebook’s new profile videos
It will soon be
possible to bring your profile photos to life! The social media network is busy
testing a cool new feature called profile videos, which will allow users to
upload a seven second video clip instead of just an average picture.
Check out the gif to
see how it’ll look…
iPhone users in
California and the UK will be the first to use profile videos, the feature is
only expected to roll out to everyone else in the near future. Facebook said that
the ability to make your profile picture a video is an attempt to help people
express their personalities and creativity.
The profile videos
will only loop when someone visits your page, so you will only see a frame from
the video on your news feed. Audio from the profile video will only play in
full-view mode when someone taps on the video, it won’t play when someone is
simply viewing your profile.
When the feature
arrives, you’ll have to know how to use it, here’s how to get started:
- Once you get the
profile videos feature, visit your profile page and select “Take a New Profile
Video” or “Upload Video or Photo” within the avatar section.
- If you want to take
a profile video directly via the feature, you’ll need your phone. Tap the record
button to start and it’ll countdown and hit the button again to see your seven second
video creation.
- To upload a video
from your camera roll, click “Upload From Camera Roll” and select the one you
want. It will preview to make sure you like what you see.
- From here, you’ll
need to select a thumbnail, also known as the static shot that will show up in
comments, Messenger and News Feed.
- After you hit save,
your video will autoplay and friends will be notified in their News Feed.
So looks like Facebook
is soon going to get way more lively!
