Show your reaction with the new Facebook feature
Remember the rumours
about the Facebook “dislike” button? Well, turns out it was actually much more
than that, Reactions is the new feature for Facebook and it allows you to
respond to posts with different emoji.
How does it work? The
easiest way to understand Facebook Reactions is to simply think of it as an
extension of the Like button. The feature will work with any post on Facebook
where the like button is visible. By long pressing or hovering over it with a
mouse, the panel will open up and display the six different reactions that can
be added to the post. The multiple responses include “like,” “haha,” “yay,” “wow,”
“sad” and “anger.”
Each different
reaction comes with an emoji, which is then displayed next to the number of
likes underneath a post. As with a regular “like”, you can only give one
reaction per post, so you can’t “like” and “wow” the same post.
So, when will we get
this new feature? Like with many of Facebook’s updates, when you receive it
will depend on where you live. Facebook users in Ireland and Span will be the
first to use this cool feature. When the rest of us get the feature is unclear,
but it will probably depend on how people respond to it.
You are probably
wondering why dislike isn’t one of reactions. Mark Zuckerberg has said many
times that he feels that a “dislike” button could bring a lot of negativity. It
is important to remember that the any new feature needs to promote something
good and not something bad.
The new Reactions
feature is still in a somewhat experimental stage, so some changes are
possible, but it seems it’s going to be quite popular! What do you think of the
new Facebook Reactions feature?
