Apple’s Bizarre New Advert

With the new iPhone 7 Plus comes a new ad. This particular Apple advert concentrates on highlighting the phone’s great portrait mode; however it comes across as a bit bizarre.

In the ad, we see a young woman going back to her home town in Greece and she takes her new iPhone 7 Plus with her. The young woman decides to capture a photo of her grandmother while they’re busy chatting, needless to say the older woman is utterly amazed at how great the image comes out. Before the young woman can do anything else, she is running around the village taking pictures of everyone.

Yes, the advert shows off how impressive the portrait mode feature is on the new iPhone 7 Plus, but it also feels condescending to these poor village people, I mean have they really never had their picture taken or seen a Smartphone? It is as if the young woman has brought a magical device with her and nobody can contain their excitement.

This new ad isn’t the first time Apple has decided it’s a good idea to create a slightly patronizing advert.
