7 Signs that you’re too dependent on Technology

We are living in the age of technology, which means that tech will obviously be a part of our everyday lives. Complex devices and cool gadgets have improved our lives and made our lives easier, but how many of you have stopped and looked at the negative effect tech can have on us?

Here are 7 signs that you’re too dependent on technology and you may need to take a break:

-- Wasting hours

Technology is difficult to escape; it is everywhere – in schools, at work and even when we play. Every year the normal tech usage levels get higher and higher, in 2016 there were 3.419 billion internet users worldwide. If you are wasting hours each day online, playing games or on the computer you should be concerned.

-- Phantom ringing

Do you sometimes hear your phone ringing or vibrating even when it isn’t? This comes from compulsively checking your phone for messages or social media updates, why not try leaving your phone on silent for a while or turn it off!

-- Cravings

If the power goes out and your phone battery dies, do you feel worried or isolated from the world? Well, this is a definite sign that your cravings for technology are out of control! Set aside some time each day to do other activities besides technology, like outside hobbies and setting life goals.

-- Missing out on the real world

Don’t miss out on the real world by choosing a TV series, computer game or Facebook over going to visit your friends or family. Always remember that technology and all your favourite TV shows will be there forever, but your loved ones may not.

-- Multitasking

Anxiety and depression is actually linked to doing a million things at once, such as watching a movie while surfing the web or checking your social media networks while taking a Snapchat video and listening to music. Try to just focus on one thing at a time.

-- Isolation

Staying in doors for long periods of time and binging on technology, can lead to some pretty serious effects. Moodiness and even extra paleness can be caused by not getting enough Vitamin D from sunlight, some other changes can include; losing or picking up weight, neck aches, backaches, carpal tunnel syndrome and even a change in sleeping patterns. Take a break and ask yourself if this is how you want to be for the rest of your life?

When something bad happens because of your serious dependence on technology, such as your lose your job, you stop talking to your family or you start feeling depressed, and you still continue to rely on tech everyday then you have a serious problem! This final sign means that change needs to happen and you need to be free from your dependence.
