4 things you need to be the ultimate graphic designer
As a designer there
are many things that are essential for you to be able to do your job perfectly,
whether you’re working from home or from the office. For some, the most obvious
is a space to work in, eyes, a very large coffee and a brain that’s not too
sluggish!
But what would be the
absolute worst thing to not have during a whole day of work in the studio? To
answer this question, here is a list of 4 things that are essential to a
graphic designer…
Drawing Tablet
This nifty bit of kit
is like an extension of your own hand. A drawing tablet can make the transition
between sketching everything on paper and then wrestling with the pen tool in
Illustrator a lot more fun and definitely a lot faster. For those of you who don’t
know what this device is, thin of it as a piece of paper and a pen that
transfers every stroke to your machine.
A Sketchbook
This may be an obvious
one, but it’s definitely an essential item. With your face in front of a screen
all day, it’s sometimes good to have a break. Not only will this calm you down,
but it is a nice break for your busy brain.
Snacks
For graphic designers,
work tends to overtake a great deal of things, including meal time. Having healthy
brain food and snacks for the week will keep you from having a complete
meltdown at your desk. Your stomach will thank you when its 5:00pm and you’re
dying of hunger!
A Time-Tracking App
There is one thing a
designer should never be without – a decent time tracking application.
Slimtimer has an easy to use interface, plus it’s free. Having a way to track
the time you spend on projects is simple and intuitive.
So, as a graphic
designer there’s things that you need, but what couldn’t you live without? These
four simple items will ensure you make it through the day!
