Say Hello to the new Amazon Echo Dot and Amazon Tap
Last week, Amazon
rolled out two new products with Alexa (Amazon’s voice-activated software) the
Amazon Echo Dot and the Amazon Tap.
The two new devices
are similar to the Amazon Echo, which is a complete jack-of-all-trades device. For
those of you who don’t know – the Amazon Echo with Alexa, is a digital personal
assistant and Bluetooth speaker that allows users to have the news/weather/traffic
read out to them, order stuff from Amazon, purchase movie tickets, control
lights and switches, as well as a variety of other features.

So, basically the
Amazon Echo Dot is a smaller version of the Echo. It has every feature of the
original Echo, but it is smaller and has a less powerful speaker.
Unfortunately, unless you are an Amazon Prime member and own an Amazon Fire TV
or an Amazon Echo, you cannot purchase the Echo Dot yet. Why, you ask? Well,
Amazon has only made ordering possible through Alexa Voice Shopping, which is
only available on the Echo and Fire TV.
On the other hand, the
Amazon Tap has basically the same features as the two Echo devices. However, to
use the Amazon Tap, you have to hold down a button instead of simply asking
Alexa to do something for you.
Apparently the Echo
Dot will be on offer for $89.99 and the Amazon Tap will be available for
$129.00. luckily you don’t have to have the Fire TV or Echo to order the Amazon
Tap from Amazon.
