The Best Hacker Movies of all time

Yes, these movies show very unrealistic views of hacking. But, they were created simply for entertainment purposes, not to be technically accurate.

If you are planning on becoming a hacker and learning secret commands and codes, you definitely wont get anywhere by watching these films. But if you want to be entertained, here are the best hacker movies of all time...

Mr. Robot (2015)
Mr. Robot may be a TV series, but we thought it was so good that it needs to be added to the list! This series is great for many reasons - the story, music and great camera work.

If you are a regular computer user, you will appreciate the fact that Mr. Robot is accurate in the technical sense, you will even see references to smartphones, Linux, DDOS attacks and Instagram.

MI4: Ghost Protocol (2011)
Most of the time when a FOURTH movie in a sequel comes out, you only expect the worst, but this Mission Impossible movie surprisingly doesn't go downhill. It has a variety of high-tech thrills, from iPhones that break door codes to hijacked security networks.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)
She's a Swedish hacker who is pierced and tattooed. She teams up with a journalist to solve a murder-mystery. And she has a dragon tattoo.  Based on the Stieg Larsson novels, this film has earned international acclaim, and was first made as a Swedish drama thriller in 2009.

Untraceable (2008)
It may only be a B-grade movie, but it has some really creepy moments. Marsh is an FBI Agent who is trying to stop a serial killer, the twists is that he broadcasts all his brutal acts live on the web!

Everyone loves the Matrix, whether it is realistic or not. Okay, so you won't learn how to hack any servers, but this movie is super cool no matter what you learn.

Hackers (1995)
You don't have to bring your brain along to watch this film! The story really isn't that intriguing and the scenes where there is hacking involved aren't realistic at all. But it's better to watch it just to say you did.

Tron: Legacy (2010)
Most of the hacker movies we've seen involve hacking into secret systems and travelling to virtual worlds. In this case, the movie is based around the world called The Grid, where PC programs have become living people in a society where humanoids battle like gladiators.
