3 Tech Innovations that we should see in 2017

Not all the new tech innovations are getting as much attention as things such as self-driving cars and high-tech drones.

You may not be aware of some of the fascinating products and innovations that we will probably see next year...

>> Sunscreen Pills

We don’t want to waste time lathering on the sunscreen, when we could be sun tanning or swimming the sea, plus a lot of the time we forget to put sunscreen on altogether!

New studies have shown that next year Summer, we could see a pill that you can take instead of putting on sun block. The fact that you could get it in oral form could encourage people to defend themselves against the sun’s rays.

But how is it possible to make a sunscreen pill? A fern that is used to treat conditions like Dermatitis has an antioxidant extract that can protect against UV rays that usually cause sunburn.

Don’t give up on sunscreen lotion just yet, this pill is just the beginning and researchers are still working on the effectiveness. So, make sure to lather up and stay protected this Summer!

When injuries happen, you might be able to make it to the hospital, but what if you’re out in the wild on a hike or camping trip?

Lasers aren’t just for surgery anymore; research shows that portable laser pens could available and ready to seal your wound by next year!

This means that if you’re bleeding and you can’t get to the hospital right away, you can use this pen to seal your cut and avoid getting stitches. No, this doesn’t mean that you can use the pen in place of serious medical attention.

The pen has two fibres: one that points carbon dioxide-based infrared laser at the injured area, and one that directs the pen to an infrared sensor that maintains ideal temperature conditions for soldering.
This tech is not ready for the market just yet, but we may see it in the New Year!

>> Hovercrafts

It seems like something out of a movie, but pretty soon you’ll be able to have your own hovercraft!

A company in California has managed to develop and begin testing the Aero-X hovercraft which can fly at 3 metres in the air and reach speeds of about 70km/h. It is almost like riding a motorbike, and can take the weight of 140kg.

The Aero-X is still being tested for safety, however it can take heavy wind and remain stable, which is a good sign, but we’ll have to see how far it gets in heavy rain!

Yes, a hovercraft may seem silly or as something you’d use to fly around in your backyard, but emergency personnel can use technology like this for tough-to-reach rescue missions.

With a price tag as high as the Aero-X’s, it won’t be as cheap as buying a normal car, so don’t get too excited!

While these technologies are intriguing, if they don’t necessarily float your boat, there are so many other projects and innovations that will be coming out within the next few years. Think head transplants, and maybe even the rebirth of Woolly Mammoths.
