The Creepy Virtual Assistant of the Future
Why would you need friends when you could have a holographic
assistant/friend/girlfriend?
Gatebox created Azuma to be a virtual assistant to have the
same basic functions as the Echo and Google Home; however Azuma can also detect
motion and temperature. The one big difference is the ability to see Azuma has
a character that shows body language, which makes her even more humanoid.
Azuma is almost the same as having a girlfriend, she can
send you messages during the day, saying things like “can’t wait to see you”.
The big difference is that she’s not a real girlfriend, she’s a hologram in a jar,
and it’s actually kind of weird!
If you think it can’t get any weirder than that – it can.
You can even sit and watch movies with Azuma and she will react in relation to
what you are watching. Better put on that romantic movie you’ve been waiting to
watch with “The One”.
The only problem with Azuma is that she only speaks Japanese
and she costs a pretty penny, 298 000 Yen which is about R35800!
