The Reality of Virtual Reality in the Workplace
When you think of virtual reality the first thing that pops
into your head is probably a futuristic sci-fi movie or intense
state-of-the-art PC gaming. However, VR could be taking over the workplace
sooner than you may think!
Virtual reality could be the power that businesses need to
increase collaboration with other companies, productivity in the workplace and
global expansion.
The biggest tech companies in the world are leading the way
in developing, releasing and investing in virtual reality, holograms and
augmented reality. Just a few years ago Facebook bought the Oculus Rift for a
whopping 2 billion Dollars. Other companies involved in changing our virtual
landscape include Apple, Google and Microsoft.
So, how will virtual reality change the workplace?
Training –
This is an easy one, because there is no limit in VR training. If employees or
future employees had to be trained with augmented or virtual reality, it would
be a lot more engaging, cost effective and efficient.
Efficiency –
We all use smartphones, tablets, laptops or PCs at work. But what if we had a
3D display that showed all our data that we could manipulated with a simple
touch. Co-workers all around the world would be able to join together and work
in collaboration.
Teleportation –
Imagine going to a meeting in South Africa while you are enjoying the beach in
Bali? It could be possible when VR takes business collaboration to the next
level, which will let people be in the same space together even if they are
thousands of miles apart.
Every year virtual
reality continues to grow and improve, so expect to see VR make its way into
your workplace or a workplace near you in the future!
