Brain-to-brain instant messaging, is it possible?
Imagine if it was possible for you to send a message to
someone halfway around the world without having to speak or write, believe it
or not it has been proven to be possible!
An international team of scientists consisting of
neuroscientists and robotic engineers conducted an experiment and successfully
sent a message over 5000 miles away from one person’s brain to another. It may
seem like something out of a science fiction movie, but it is 100% real, this
could the next big thing in our world.
The goal these amazing scientists had was to find out if it
was possible to communicate directly between two people. To demonstrate, first the
scientists had to read the brain activity from one person in India and then they
inserted it into the second person who is sitting half way across the world in
France.
The invention of this new technology can help certain people
immensely; people who have impairments that prevent communicating with their
voice, eye contact or sign language can be aided by this astounding technology.
On the other hand if you think about it, it may seem a bit over the top and
expensive than simply picking up your phone and sending someone a message or
using your voice and talking to someone directly.
Just think about it for a second though, this experiment
could be the first step to creating futuristic, better communication between
humans around the world.
