Facebook reaches 100 million users in Africa
Can you think of one person you know that isn't on Facebook?
Basically everyone uses this social network and more keep joining every day! Last
week Facebook announced that it has reached 100 million monthly users in Africa
and according to them 80% of these users are accessing the social network using
their mobile phones.
Slowly but surely it seems that Africa has truly become a
mobile first country, people would rather connect to Facebook on their
cellphones than their desktop computer or laptop, showing that these two
devices might die out quite soon.
So 10% of Africans use Facebook on a regular basis and according to them half of the 200 million people that are connected to the internet will connect to Facebook, that’s one in two people.

Facebook is all about giving people around the world the
power to connect and in June 2014 Facebook was behind a massive initiative to
bring internet to Zambia, they launched a mobile app for Internet.org that
provides free internet access to wireless subscribers, this gives people access
to basic apps such as health and employment services, Wikipedia, Facebook, and
Google Search etc.
Mark Zuckerberg’s main mission, so he says, is to connect people from all around the globe and right now the company’s focus is on attracting more users in developing countries. Facebook never seems to never stop growing and the only way is up for them.
