Get ready for Windows 9
Windows 9 may be coming sooner than you anticipated, so take
out your diary and bookmark September 30th, because according to
online reports Microsoft has sent out invitations to an unveiling of Windows 9
on this date saying “Join us to find out what’s next for Windows and the
enterprise.” Although it is only to be properly released in the middle of 2015,
a preview of the new operating system is going to be held to discuss changes
and modifications.
It’s safe to say the Windows 8 has not been a huge success
and most people still prefer using Windows 7 – which is a great product, so there’s
a lot of pressure on the new Windows 9 to live up to the hype. We've seen with
Windows 8 the attempt to introduce an operating system that was like a desktop
and a mobile combined, which was way too much for some users to handle, it was
definitely a flop! Here are some of the features you can expect to see in the
new Windows 9:
Start Menu – this much missed feature is back by popular
demand, the Start menu was left out in Windows 8 but in Windows 9 it returns
and it includes Live Tiles, which will take up about half of the menu.
Cortana – Cortana is basically like the Microsoft version of
Apple iPhone’s Siri, it is an intelligent personal assistant with a voice. Apparently
Cortana may not be seen at the preview but it will be seen at a later stage.
Virtual Desktops – a brand new feature is being introduced,
it will allow users to have separate or multiple working environments for anything
from work to home. This feature will cancel out the irritating charms bar we
see in Windows 8.
Storage Sense – a feature that is originally found on the
Windows phone, adding this to the new Windows 9 will allow users to transfer
big files to external storage.
Notifications Centre – a notifications centre will be added in
the system tray to display unread messages that popped up earlier, you can then
view them without losing them forever.
There is still a great deal we do not know about Windows 9
yet, in a recent statement the company said they have “nothing to share” so they’re
really keeping everything about Windows a huge secret. Majority of people are
really anticipating what the new Windows 9 really has to offer.
