The Windows 10 Desktop Background
Microsoft has a plan
to get Windows 10 on one billion devices within the next few years, this
ambitious plan has encouraged them to create the new Windows desktop background
with an array of smoke, glass and lasers.
The default wallpapers
on Windows have become some of the most iconic images of our time. So, when
Microsoft unveiled the new default wallpaper for Windows 10, it was kind of a
big deal!
Microsoft created a light show to capture the
hero image for the desktop background, which has turned out to be quite a departure
from the rolling hills and blue skies of Windows XP’s iconic background.
Windows 10 signifies the start of Microsoft’s reinvention of the Windows brand,
so the design has to make quite a statement.
The Windows 10
background was captured by photographer Bradley Munkowitz in a studio in San
Francisco, California. Known for his work in Oblivion and the futuristic Tron
movie, Munkowitz wanted to create a glass portal with light shining through the
Windows logo. Camera mapping techniques, lasers and projectors were used to
create the amazing image that will be used on millions of PCs.
The new dark and smoky
background works well with Windows 10’s darker theme…
On the 29th
of July, Windows 10 will begin shipping to consumers, if you are an owner of
Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 you will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free.
The software will
bring back the Start menu that was sadly missed in Windows 8, a new Microsoft
Edge browser, Cortana digital voice assistant and Continuum for hybrid
convertible notebook owners to easily transition between tablet and laptop
modes.
