4 Top Tech Myths that you need to stop Believing
Just like the silly myths we believe
everyday, like it’s bad luck to walk under a ladder or “knocking on wood”,
technology comes with a lot of myths too.
Here are four technology myths that you really
need to stop believing…
Turning
down your screens brightness will extend battery life. You probably do this one on a regular basis, lowering the
brightness of your smartphone screen to save battery power. Yes, it is true
that it can help to make it last longer, but it is not the best solution. The
best solution would be to use your phone’s Auto Brightness. This setting will
allow your phone to automatically adjust to different lighting, so the next
time it’s dark outside you won’t have to turn up the brightness of your screen.
Private
browsing is 100% private. If you don’t want your
internet browser to store your cookies and remember every single site you
visited then use your browser in incognito mode, right? It is partly true that
you won’t see any annoying adverts popping up, but never believe that once you
close your browser that it’ll be like you were never there. A lot of people
have the wrong idea about private browsing – no, it can’t protect you from
tracking and spying!
Never
buy third-party chargers. You’re in desperate need
of a new charger and the only one you can find is at a 7/11 on the corner, but
you can’t use that charger, it’ll destroy your laptop! Stop believing this
myth, there are a lot of third-party chargers that will work fine with your
laptop or phone. The only chargers you should avoid are knockoffs that do not
have a brand name at all. These won’t last long and could possibly even start
fires.
Always unplug when your PC freezes. When
everything freezes without warning, what do you do next? Some people believe that
the best thing to do is pull the power plug out or flip the switch on the plug.
There is no need to do this! Just hold in your PCs power button for a few
seconds and it will power down or restart in a less disruptive way.
When something like this happens to your
PC, you need to get to the bottom of the problem. Call The Computer Guyz on 087
