Canada is Determined to Teach Kids to Code
From a young age, most children these days
are surrounded by all types of technology, from computers and apps to
smartphones and tablets. We are living in a digital world, so why not make it a
point that children not only use these gadgets, but also learn how they work.
Coding goes far beyond just understanding
the software, it creates a range of opportunities for young children.
The current Minister of Innovation, Science
and Economic Development, Navdeep Singh Bains says that teaching code to young
children will not only help them to work together and solve problems, but it
will also mould them into the next great innovators that the world needs.
So, the Canadian government has decided
that it is time to create the next big innovators and entrepreneurs. An amount
of 50 Million Dollars is being put towards an innovative new enterprise called
CanCode.
The money is being provided to all
non-profit organizations that have at least a few years’ experience in fields
such as summer code camps, etc.
It is expected that over the next year or
two, millions of children in Canada will learn vital digital skills! Keep in
mind that this initiative isn’t just for older kids, but also for children that
are younger in age.
