Declutter your Tech
Getting rid of tech clutter can be
difficult because there are so many wires and cords and you’re just not sure
of what is needed for what.
You may want to start with decluttering
your cupboard or kitchen, but all those wires, games, remotes, manuals, etc.
are creating a big, ugly jam in your house.
Some you need to keep, but the other bits
of tech you don’t need can be recycled.
In order to properly declutter, you need to
gather all your tech together – here’s what tech clutter to look out for:
-
Cables, chargers, wires
-
Cameras
-
Speakers
-
CDs, DVDs, Installation Discs
-
PC accessories (hard drives,
mouse devices, keyboards)
-
Gaming equipment (old games,
remotes)
-
Remotes
-
Manuals
Once you have gathered all your bits and bobs
of tech, you need to figure out what you need and what you don’t need. Ask
yourself these questions:
1.
If it’s a cord, wire, cable or
charger – what does it plug into and does it still work?
2.
If it’s a piece of tech – Do you
still need it and does it still work?
3.
If it’s a manual or
installation disc – If it’s from more than 5 years ago, is it really necessary?
Once you have decided which tech to put in
which pile “KEEP” or “RECYCLE” you can organize what you’re keeping and get rid
of what you want to toss out.
It may seem like a mission to sort through
all your tech clutter, but a decluttered home will make for a better, more
organized life!
At The Computer Guyz we can offer a range of IT services and equipment. Feel free to drop any of your recycling tech off at our Cape Town office and we will have it taken care of.
