How this Luggage Company has created the Innovative Suitcase of the Future
Travel tech has been
focused on mainly two things: giving travelers the ability to track the
location of their suitcases and providing a backup battery for the many modern
devices travelers carry.
However, one company
is taking it a step further – the suitcase follows you where you lead!
The fact is that any
object can be smart and robotic, and many companies are trying to bring robots
into everyday life.
The luggage company Bluesmart
raised more than 2 million Dollars on Indiegogo for a suitcase that can be
tracked via smartphone provides battery backup and can even tell travelers the
weight of the suitcase. But, this NUA Robotics suitcase is upping the bar in
smart technology. It uses a camera sensor as well as Bluetooth pairing through
an app to know where its owner is, this is how it follows you along.
While it is still in
its testing phase, the company hopes to make a version of the suitcase
available to consumers in about a year.
The technology itself
could be useful for a number of objects beyond suitcases, such as a shopping
trolley.
While pushing a
trolley around or carrying your suitcase doesn’t seem like the biggest inconvenience
in the world, the technology could prove especially useful with people with
disabilities and the elderly.
Who knew five years
ago that we would be pushing a button on our phones and our suitcase would
follow us around like a puppy.
