The Simple steps to find a lost Word Document
Computers occasionally
crash, that’s part of life! But before you start from scratch on that 35 page
office report you’ve been working on for hours on end, follow these simple
steps…
1. Check the trash in
your Recycle Bin. Look through your recycled files or type in the “Search” bar
to find your Word Document file inside your Recycle Bin. Sure, it’s hard to
tell which one it might be, but if you double click on the file and click “Restore”
you’ll be able to open it up and check.
2. Do a total system
search. The good old “Search” box on the Start menu works well in a pinch. All
you have to do is click on the Start button and then type a word or part of a
word in the Search box. If Word saved a backup for you, this is one of the best
ways to find it.
3. No luck? Take
preventative measures for next time. When you create a new document, save it at
the start, and ALWAYS check to be sure Save AutoRecover is turned on. On
Windows, click the Microsoft Office Button > click Word Options > click
Save > Select Save AutoRecover every 10/15 minutes. After this, your work
should be safe, whether there is a power outage or a system crash.
No need to panic when you think your Word
Document is lost forever, keep calm and try these easy steps and all your hard
work can be recovered!
