Leaked: Incredible new HoloLens details
The HoloLens headset
has won over a huge number of people who are eager to try the device, but
details explaining how it works have been quite scarce.
However, a bit more
information about the HoloLens leaked during a recent event, thanks to Bruce
Harris, a technical enthusiast at Microsoft.
So what more has be revealed
about the headset? The device will offer roughly five and a half hours of
battery life when you are working on Word documents or email, and about two and
a half hours if you are using it for highly intensive work that involves
detailed renderings.
In a video, Harris
confirms that the HoloLens does not get warm because it was built to dissipate heat,
and that the device has no option for any wired connection. Although, the
device can connect to anything with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity, includes
3D audio and will only offer English language support for the first version.
Harris also addressed
questions regarding the HoloLens’ field of view. He explained that the
experience is like having a 15-inch monitor about 30cm away from your face.
In December last year,
Microsoft made the HoloLens available to be tested and experienced by the
public. But the fact that you have to pay about R50 000 for the device, reveals
that it is really more for developers rather than the general consumer market.
The HoloLens is coming
soon – keep an eye out!
