This incredible device charges your phone with water!
A Swedish startup
called MyFC revealed their cool new technology – JAQ. The device which is small
enough to simply slip into your back pocket is a fuel cell charger. JAQ uses
saltwater and oxygen to convert chemical energy into electricity, then it uses
that electricity to charge your phone’s battery.
The charger consists
of a credit card shaped “power card” and a hollowed out port that is basically
the same size as your average smartphone. The card has saltwater in it, so when
you slip the card into the port it fuels electricity-producing chemical
reactions. To get all that electricity to your phone’s battery, all you have to
do is plug your phone into the port with a standard cable.
The amazing thing
about JAQ is that it produces about 1800 mAH worth of electricity – that’s nearly
enough energy to fully charge an iPhone 6S. If you want to charge a larger
device, like a tablet, it will take more than one power card to get it fully
juiced up.
This incredible device
is not available to buy just yet, but the company hopes to be able to ship the
product later this year and make sure people have the option to charge their
phone while still having fun on the beach!
