Every year thousands
of people visit Las Vegas to see some 3800 exhibitors, displaying thousands and
thousands of gadgets and toys. Sometimes you get a glimpse of a life-changing
device and sometimes you get to see a mad scientist’s invention that is just plain
strange.
Here are four of the
weirdest gadgets that were on display at
CES 2016.
Yes, Samsung thought it
was necessary to attach a 21.5” display onto a fridge. Not only does it allow
you to browse and message, but it also has sensors to tell you if food has
spoiled and automatically replenish low supplies. It also has cameras to make
it possible to see what you have inside without even opening the door. If you
fridge is usually bare, with a few take-away containers and one half empty
bottle of tomato sauce then you should probably give this one a skip.
The Company CleverPet have created a “game console” that uses WiFi and LEDs to
feed your dog. So basically, it’s like playing Simon Says with an animal that
would just really like to eat his food and then go take a nap. Sounds great,
right? Building a game console for dogs is definitely easier then selling a
game console for dogs.
This year, the French company, Parrot unveiled Parrot Pot – a pot that measures
soil moisture, ambient temperature, and light level every 15 minutes. It
features a 2.2litre water tank that irrigates your plants automatically, using
hydration info from a database of 8000 plants. This odd gadget doesn’t zoom in
the air and do anything that amazing, but if you lack a green thumb it will
keep your plants alive with zero effort.
A friendly looking robot that can’t accomplish much else, but ride you around your
house or up the street. Apparently it can pick up certain things and answer the
door, but that’s not really amazing. Until this robot can make a cheeseburger
or a grilled cheese, its best to just stick with a regular Segway that doesn’t have
a pair of goofy eyes.
With so many different
gadgets on display at CES, it is easy to miss something along the way, however
these weird things are hard to miss.
