Google Now: New Solar Eclipse Tips & Crime Alerts

It seems that Google Now is marching into little corner of your life, it seems Google’s personal assistant is trying to be the king of the darkness with two new features; local crime alerts and solar eclipses.

The new local crime alert feature will inform you about any kind of criminal activity taking place around you. An alert from Nixle (a service that offers notification services for local police departments and other agencies) will be sent to you and you will be notified about any police activity. Google Now has probably built in a wide radius for alerting people, especially to serious criminal activity such as armed robbery etc.

Criminal activity isn't necessarily the most important thing you want to keep track of, but it’s still a very interesting addition to Google’s smart little personal assistant plus knowing about crime around you could definitely keep you out of harm’s way.

Are you a fan of solar eclipses? The new solar eclipse information feature that Google Now is offering may be even more interesting than the local crime alert feature! Google Now will not only let you know when there is a solar eclipse happening, but it will also give you useful information bout how and where to best enjoy it. The solar eclipse feature will link to certain pages that explain how to do things like make a pinhole projector, photograph the eclipse and also important eye safety information.
