What you should know about HTC’s new camera

Is it an asthma pump or is it a periscope on top of a submarine? It’s hard to tell, but it is HTC’s new handheld camera which looks almost nothing like a camera. You might notice that this camera has a few things missing from it like a viewfinder or a screen, but its odd design looks really cute and it allows you to fit comfortably in your hand and then just slip back into your pocket.

If you stop and take a look around you, you’ll see people snapping pictures with their smartphones, tablets or cameras, even at an event like a concert you’ll see people watching through their screens and not looking at the stage. With the new HTC camera there’s a better way, you can take photos and videos while still enjoying the show first hand and not through a screen.

How do you use it? The HTC camera is only about 10cm long and could be confused as an inhaler, but one quick press will snap you a 16-megapixel camera and a long press will start off a 1080p high definition video. The pictures and videos you capture can then be transferred wirelessly to your phone. Are you an aspiring filmmaker? Attach the camera to your tripod or other accessories and another great feature is that it’s totally waterproof!

The HTC will only hit stores in about a month, but that’s only in Europe, US and Asia, it will be fit with 8 gigabytes of storage, but you can add up to 128 gigabytes more with a microSD card, that means so much more space for capturing pictures and videos of memorable events.

If you take a look at the drawbacks of the new HTC camera, there are only a few; there is no display and no viewfinder, so you’ll have to point the camera towards whatever you’re trying to capturing and hope you’re not cutting anyone out.
