How Cognitive computing will change the way we work with computers
“Cognitive computing is the simulation of human
thought processes in a computerized model. Cognitive computing involves self-learning systems that use
data mining, pattern recognition and natural language processing to mimic the
way the human brain works”
Cognitive computing may sound a bit
complicated but basically it is the development of computer systems modeled on
the human brain and it may change the way we work with computers forever!
Using computers the normal way has
its limits, cognitive computing will change all that. Rather than being programmed to know every possible action, answer or problem, cognitive computing
systems are trained to actually interact with humans to help with the certain
problem that you have and get the best possible answer. It does more than that
though, its relationship with you will change how us as humans relate to
computers and information.
Cognitive computers are state-of-the-art
self-learning systems that can get knowledge from data, they do this using: - Data mining
- Pattern recognition
- Natural language processing
Its mind-blowing how cognitive computers can actually use image and speech recognition to understand you and guide and help you make decisions, but cognitive computers can’t work alone they need you, and just like you and me they learn from experience.

Just imagine your computer being your
expert assistant, you could from a human-machine relationship and actually have
a “conversation” where you learn from each other. As our own personal
assistants, the cognitive computing systems will learn and interact with many
different people such as lawyers, business managers, engineers, scientists and
so much more. If you are a doctor you could use cognitive computing to narrow
down and choose the best, most accurate treatments and medicines for your
patients, it’s just that amazing!
In the end cognitive computing is all
about helping computers learn to help us, it sees what is important to us and
predicts the best course of action, it could over time add to our ability to
process information.
